Test Details: This test is performed for the detection of Nontuberculous mycobacteria infecting an individual. Nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) are mycobacteria other than M. tuberculosis and M. leprae. NTM are opportunistic pathogens. NTM infection is not contagious. NTMs can cause infections in a wide variety of body sites, most commonly the lungs, skin and soft tissues.
