Test Details: 5- Hydroxy Indole Acetic Acid (HIAA) urine is a test that measures the amount of 5-HIAA. 5-HIAA is a breakdown product of hormone called serotonin. This test is used to diagnose and monitor treatment of a carcinoid tumour that produces serotonin. Symptoms include flushing, abdominal pain, diarrhoea and wheezing.

Container to be kept in dark throughtout collection. Sample aliquot to be transported in aluminium foil. Do not consume bananas, pineapple, nuts 48 hours before collection. Mention CT scan report, USG and Medication history. Use 10 ml of 6 Mol HCL as preservative.
